Where to Buy

We know, treadmills don’t come cheap. We often get questions on where to buy, or who to buy from. Additionally, people obviously want to know how much they should pay, and where they can get a treadmill at the best value. The more research you do on a particular brand or model, the more prepared you will feel.

In fact, it really depends on where you are located, meaning, what kind of stores are available to you. Specialty fitness equipment stores are probably your best option. They will have a wider selection than other stores, and likely will have more models on the showroom floor. You will find more options for your budget as well, from entry level machines to high-end commercial quality machines. The sales staff will also be much more knowledgeable and will help you make a more informed decision.

Try to avoid department stores, for a number of reasons; We find most of their staff will be lacking product knowledge and that their selections are usually limited to a few brands or models. Some department stores will have a lower-end treadmill made exclusively for them so that they can mark the price up to whatever they want. Don’t fall for the mass-merchant trap of a “$2000 MSRP, now $1000 off!”… those treadmills were likely never worth $2000. On top of that, you will find their prices are usually higher than others’ because advertising and marketing costs are added to it.

Keep in mind that the best way to judge if a treadmill is right for is to test it out. Of course, if you don’t have a fitness equipment store in your area that stocks the model you are looking for, you might be able to find it online. Many specialty fitness stores also sell online, so you can order from the convenience of your home. Be sure to try to find some customer reviews or a recommendation from someone you know, as well.
