Precor 9.23 Treadmill Review

Lower Price Point makes this treadmill a decent buy

A good Dick's Sporting Goods model being sold at $1099. These are lower end units and not known as a true Precor treadmill.

The Precor 9.23 treadmill is an entry-level model aims to target beginners / first time treadmill owners market. Priced at around $2300 – $2500 range, comes with 3.0 HP continuous duty motor, speed up to 12 mph and 15% incline. It has a 20″ x 57″ running surface, which is slightly longer than most entry-level treadmills.

Precor 9.23 Treadmill – Background

Its no doubt that Precor is quite reputable for their quality and cool outlook. For those who has been to fitness clubs and gyms, they are everyone; from treadmills to elliptical, pretty much all different types of machine.

However, this is what also confused a lot of treadmill buyers out there. Precor 9.23 / 9.31 / 9.33 series are not the same as the ones you use / saw in commercial gyms. These models are designed for ‘home use’ and have nothing related to their reputable ‘commercial’ line. The quality, the mechanics and the reliability on these machines are completely different. Unfortunately, the price is not too much of a difference, which makes it extremely expensive as an entry-level machine in comparison to others.

Precor 9.23 Treadmill – What We Say

We think Precor is a strong and reputable brand. However, the Precor 9.23 treadmill definitely not a good buy – not even close. Let us explain why. First of all, as an entry-level machine, it is over priced regardless what is equipped. At $2800 – $3000 range, you can get a professional-grade AFG 7.1AT with close to $1000 in change. In regards of 3.0HP motor, a first-time owner/beginner probably don’t need that so its definitely a waste there.

We just want to emphasize that we are in 2012 now and the treadmill industry has changed alot. Prices had gone down much lower than expected and at $2300 – $2500 range, you should definitely consider more reputable and reliable brands such as Horizon, AFG and Livestrong. The demand for Precor machines have went down over the past years and most of their machines are outdated in terms of functionity, features and looks. According to many repair technicians, their parts tend to be hard to find and takes a long time to be shipped. Overall, the Precor 9.23 treadmill is NOT RECOMMENDED.
